Project Two: Repurposing

For me, project two was all about pushing my writing ability and strategy to new limits. I chose to make my starting point an academic essay from a political science class in hopes of taking a scholarly piece of writing and making it even stronger by adjusting my audience and truly finding my voice within my writing. I started with a comparative analysis piece on the modernity of football and baseball and transformed it into an article for Grantland on why baseball went from the University of Michigan's most popular sport to a sport that is rarely discussed on campus. Through careful research and attention to detail, I discovered my voice in a way that I had not previously. Check it out by clicking on the photo to the right, or check out the process I underwent to complete this project by clicking on the photos below.

Inspiration

This is an essay I wrote for a political science class that compared the modernity of baseball and football. It served as the inspiration for my project two.

Grantland Sample

This is a sample article from Grantland that I used to properly format my piece once it was written. I tried to keep the design aesthetics as similar as possible.

Making of Project Two

This is a piece that walks through my entire process of putting this project together. It begins with the initial draft and brainstorming and culminates with the final draft.
